Entry fee: The entry fee for Indians is Rs. 55 per person and for children below the age of 12 years it is Rs. 30. For Foreigners the entry fee is Rs. 100 per person. There are separate charges for safari vehicles. During weekdays the charge for a car or jeep is Rs. 110 and for a mini bus it is Rs. 220. And on weekends the price of car or jeep safari is Rs. 120 and for a mini bus it is Rs. 240.

How to reach

By air

If you are travelling by air then the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur is the nearest airport to reach the sanctuary. From there the location of this sanctuary is about 177.5 km away. It would take you around 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach the location of the sanctuary from the Nagpur airport. From the airport you can surely take a car or hire a cab to reach the sanctuary. Or else you can opt for buses plying on this route as well to reach the sanctuary from the Nagpur airport. 

By train

In case you are travelling by train then the nearest railway station is the Adilabad Railway Station. From the Adilabad station the distance of the sanctuary is about 43 km away. You can reach the sanctuary from the Adilabad Station in about an hour. To reach there you can opt for buses plying on this route. Or else you can take a car or hire a cab as well from the Adilabad railway station.

Amravati Railway Station and Badnera Railway Stations are also the nearest major railhead to reach this sanctuary. So you can even get trains from different locations to reach these railway stations as well. From Amravati the location of the sanctuary is about 168.7 km away. It would approximately take you around 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach the sanctuary from Amravati station. And from Badnera the distance of the sanctuary is about 158 km away. It would take about 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach Tipeshwar from the Badnera Railway Station.

By road

You can even travel by road as well and there are buses available from different locations to reach the sanctuary. You can reach Tipeshwar from the Pandharkawada Bus Stop which is located 22 km away from the sanctuary. People also travel by road from locations like Nagpur and Hyderabad as well. Hyderabad to Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary distance is about 400 km away and it takes around 6 hours and 34 minutes to reach the sanctuary from there. Other than buses you can also take a car or hire a cab from different locations as well to reach the location of the sanctuary.

Best time to visit

The Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary offers different experiences during different seasons. The weather of the spot remains comfortable most of the year. The ideal time to visit this wildlife sanctuary would be from November to February. This is the time when the weather remains the best here, so you will be able to enjoy the surroundings better. Furthermore the time from March to April is also one of the ideal times to visit here. During this time the sanctuary usually remains in full bloom and gets dressed in lush greenery. Overview of Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in an isolated area in Maharashtra the Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the lesser known sanctuaries. However a visit to this sanctuary can bring in a lot of excitement and enjoyment for any visitor visiting here. The sanctuary was established in 1997, on 30th April and is nestled amidst the Pandharkawada Taluka in Maharashtra. The sanctuary spreads across an area of 148.63 sq km but the limited space is something that is not at all a factor here. This sanctuary plays a vital role in maintaining the biodiversity of the area and houses varieties of flora and fauna as well. There are many villages that encompass the sanctuary and these villages furthermore depend on this sanctuary as well for the supply of timber and firewood.

These are Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Chaprala Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagzira National Forest, Bor Wildlife Sanctuary etc. And the tigers from all these reserves usually live in the Tipeshwar Sanctuary.

Flora and Fauna in Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

There are about 25 species of mammals, 22 species of amphibians, 125 species of birds at this sanctuary. Some of the common animals here are Leopard Cats, Bengal Tigers, Indian Bison, Sloth Bears, Indian Gigantic Squirrels etc. Also there are Indian Leopards, Hyena, Jackal, Chital, Sambar. You will also find Black Deer, Blue Bull, Rhesus Macaque, Tigers, Northern Plains Langur etc as well. The number of tigers has significantly increased here in the last few years. Currently there are about 20 tigers here that include adults, cubs and sub adults.

The flora of the Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is also worth mentioning. Around 60% of the total vegetation here has a teak wood domination. And 15% of the vegetation here has Red Sandalwood which is one of the costliest sandalwoods that you can find in India. Some other varieties like Mahua, Achar, Bhirra Tiwas etc are also present here. You will further find around 250 species of bamboo here as well. Other than that there are Kadmod, Kunda, Guhar, Gokru etc here.

The Safari at Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the major activities that you can enjoy here. You can opt for the Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary booking for safari through their online site. Or else you can also take some help from the local guides as well for the booking of the safari here. There are a total of 3 entry gates to the sanctuary namely the Sunna Gate, Mathai Gate and the Kodori Gate. From Pandharkawada the Sunna Gate is about 7 km away. The Mathani Gate is located at a distance of about 23 km from Pandharkawada.

Each day there are 24 Tiger Safaris here and there are slots for this. There are 12 safari slots from Sunna Gate and out of that 6 are morning slots and 6 are afternoon slots. Same as that the Mathani Gate also has a total of 12 slots that include 6 slots each during the morning and afternoon. Every Monday the safari remains closed.
