By train
The nearest railway station to reach the temple is the Veraval Railway Station. However to reach there first you can take a train to Ahmedabad Junction. From Ahmedabad you can get regular trains to reach Veraval. From Kolkata it will take around 35 hours to reach Ahmedabad and from Ahmedabad Veraval station is 7 hours away. Furthermore from Veraval Station the Somnath temple is 8 km away. You can easily reach the temple in about 20 minutes from the railway station.
By road
The total distance from Kolkata to reach Somnath is 2435 km and if you are travelling by road it would approximately take about 45 hours to reach there. It can be a really long journey but with halts in between you can reach there by road as well.

By air

By train
If you are travelling by train the nearest railway station is the Veraval railway station. But to reach there you will have to take trains from Delhi to reach Ahmedabad Junction first. From Ahmedabad there are regular trains to reach the Veraval station. It would take about 34 hours to reach Ahmedabad from Delhi. And then it would take another 7 hours to reach the temple.
By air
You can also travel by road if you wish to. The distance from Delhi to reach Somnath is 1395 km. It would approximately take around 23 hours and 20 minute to reach the Somnath Temple from Delhi. You can definitely hire a car or take your own vehicle to drive through the city to reach the temple.
From Mumbai
By air

From Porbandar you can get buses to reach the temple and the bus fare starts from Rs. 150.
By train
It is convenient to reach the Somnath Temple by train from Mumbai as there are direct trains to reach the Veraval Station which is the nearest railway station. The trains are Pune Veraval Express, Saurashtra Mail, BDTS VRL Sup Express, Veraval Express. It would take around 16 to 18 hours to reach the Veraval Station from Mumbai. Moreover some of these trains are regular, weekly and bi weekly trains and you need to check the timings for that. The train fare starts from Rs. 400. From the Veraval station however the temple is 8 km away and you can reach there in about 20 minutes.
By road
If you are travelling by road the distance from Mumbai to Somnath is 888 km and you can reach there in about 15 hours. You can take your own car or take a hired car also to reach there. However there are buses available in this route as well. But there are no direct buses to reach there from Mumbai. You can take a bus from Mulund West to reach Maliya Road in about 15 hours and 15 minutes. The bus fare starts from Rs. 1700. Furthermore, from Maliya Road you will have to take a bus to Somnath. This will however take another 6 hours to reach there. And the Bus fare starts from Rs. 200.
From Dwarka
By train
If you are travelling from Dwarka then it would be convenient to reach there by train. You can get the OKHA Somnath Express to reach Somnath temple from Dwarka. There are night trains that take about 8 and a half hours to reach there and the fare ranges from Rs. 550 to Rs. 1550.
By road
It is also extremely convenient to reach the temple from Dwarka. By road the distance between Dwarka and Somnath Temple is 237 km and you can reach there in about 3 hours and 36 minutes. You can however easily hire a car or travel by your own vehicle to reach there. However if you are taking a taxi or a cab then they would charge about Rs. 4000 approximately for a one way journey.
Alternatively buses are available on this route as well. If you are travelling by bus the time taken to reach the temple would be about 5 hours. Moreover there are regular buses plying on this route and you can get normal seater bus, sleeper bus, AC seater bus, AC Deluxe Bus, AC Sleeper Bus as well as Volvo buses to reach there as well. From Ahmedabad
By train
It is convenient to reach Somnath from Ahmedabad by train and you can also get direct trains from there as well. JBP Somnath Express, Saurashtra Janta, Somnath Express are some of the trains that you can get to reach Veraval which is the nearest railway station to reach the temple. Approximately it would take about 8 hours and 30 minutes to 10 hours to reach there by train. From Veraval the temple is 8 km away and you can reach there in about 20 minutes.
By road
In case you wish to travel by road the distance from Ahmedabad to Somnath is 411 km and it would take around 7 hours and 15 minutes to reach there. You can easily take your own vehicle to reach there or else you can take a taxi or hire a car as well. However buses are also available on this route to reach the temple and it would take around 8 hours and 30 minutes approximately to reach there. Moreover buses are also one of the cheapest modes of communication as well and the bus fare starts from Rs. 220.
