The nearest railway station to reach the temple is the Veraval Railway Station. However to reach there first you can take a train to Ahmedabad Junction. From Ahmedabad you can get regular trains to reach Veraval. From Kolkata it will take around 35 hours to reach Ahmedabad and from Ahmedabad Veraval station is 7 hours away. By train
It is convenient to reach the Somnath Temple by train from Mumbai as there are direct trains to reach the Veraval Station which is the nearest railway station. The trains are Pune Veraval Express, Saurashtra Mail, BDTS VRL Sup Express, Veraval Express. It would take around 16 to 18 hours to reach the Veraval Station from Mumbai. Moreover some of these trains are regular, weekly and bi weekly trains and you need to check the timings for that. The train fare starts from Rs. 400. From the Veraval station however the temple is 8 km away and you can reach there in about 20 minutes.
By road
If you are travelling by road the distance from Mumbai to Somnath is 888 km and you can reach there in about 15 hours. You can take your own car or take a hired car also to reach there. However there are buses available in this route as well. But there are no direct buses to reach there from Mumbai. You can take a bus from Mulund West to reach Maliya Road in about 15 hours and 15 minutes. The bus fare starts from Rs. 1700. Furthermore, from Maliya Road you will have to take a bus to Somnath. From Dwarka
By train
If you are travelling from Dwarka then it would be convenient to reach there by train. You can get the OKHA Somnath Express to reach Somnath temple from Dwarka. There are night trains that take about 8 and a half hours to reach there and the fare ranges from Rs. 550 to Rs. 1550.
By road
It is also extremely convenient to reach the temple from Dwarka. By road the distance between Dwarka and Somnath Temple is 237 km and you can reach there in about 3 hours and 36 minutes. You can however easily hire a car or travel by your own vehicle to reach there. However if you are taking a taxi or a cab then they would charge about Rs. 4000 approximately for a one way journey.
Alternatively buses are available on this route as well. If you are travelling by bus the time taken to reach the temple would be about 5 hours.
