Kailasagiri

Submarine Museum (VMRDA INS Kursura Submarine Museum)

Being a coastal City submarine and other water transport are very common and also an integral part of Visakhapatnam. INS Kurusura submarine museum is one of the highest visiting sightseeing places. The museum was established in 2011. This museum of R.K. Beach Road itself is a submarine which used to be operated by the Indian Navy. This submarine was built by Russia and served the Indian Navy in the Indo-Pak War in 1971. After that, in 2001 it was decommissioned & kept intact to build a public museum. This wonderful museum allows tourists from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is the first Submarine museum in Asia.

Bheemili Beach

Bheemunipatnam or popularly known as Bheemili Beach is one of the Famous beaches in Vizag. It is situated at the convergence of the Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. The place holds the remainder of the 17th century including a symmetry, fort and other reflections of the Dutch era. Bheemunipatnam has been named after the legend of Mahabharat, Bheema. Thotlakonda

It is a Buddhist excavation place situated around Visakhapatnam. This Buddhist complex is just 15 km away from Visakhapatnam. It is a rock-cut inscription which is 2000 years old. From the excavations, Brahmi script scriptures, Terracotta tiles and silver coins of the Roman Era have been discovered from this location; it is assumed that this place was a major Roman trade site in the past. The location is almost 120 acres wide and it has one congregation hall, many chaitya Grihas, rock-cut water cisterns and a maha stupa. People interested in experiencing spirituality will find this place perfect for them.

Simhachalam Temple

This is the most visited religious and cultural sightseeing location among Visakhapatnam tourist places. It has a perfect design and architecture that soothes one’s eyes. This temple is dedicated to Hindu deity Lord Narasimha. As per legends Narasimha avatar of lord Vishnu was incarcerated to kill Hiranya Kashyap, who was torturing a devotee kid Prahlad. Among 32 Narasimha temples of Andhra Pradesh, Simhachalam is a place that has not only religious but also some arts carved and cultural values carved into its walls. Dolphin’s Nose

Situated at Gangavaram port, Dolphin’s Nose is the perfect place to escape the chaos of busy city life or to enjoy a family picnic. It has been named per the shape of the rock viewpoint which resembles a dolphin’s nose. It used to be a military camp during the British era, the famous battle of Visakhapatnam between British and French was fought here. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

Bojjannakonda

Based in Rabaka of Andhra Pradesh, Bojjannakonda is a cluster of rock-cut caves having 6 such caves together. During the 4th century, Buddhism was thriving here. Back in that time, the statues of Gautam Buddha were carved here. Other than that this cave is also beautifully featured with the details of Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana, three phases of Buddhism. These curved statues still hold religious importance to tourists. The area is under the supervision of the archaeological survey of India. These beautiful caves are only 26 km away from Vizag. 

War Memorial

Almost every Vizag tour guide will suggest you visit this monument. This victory at the sea war memorial is standing on Beach Road. In honour of the Martyrs, who fought selflessly for the country, there is a prayer permanently lit here. It was constructed after the Indo-Pak war when Pakistan targeted Visakhapatnam port to destroy the Indian aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant in 1996. This Monument Still arouses a sense of patriotism among the people.
